It was a Tuesday night. The Smith family considered Tuesday to be their family night. They would all sit down together, in the lounge room, and decide on a television show or movie to watch. The Smith family comprised of Judy and Steve as well as their twins, Kate and Luke. Kate and Luke were both 12 years old.
“Do you feel like watching a comedy or drama?” Steve asked the rest of the family, as he held up two DVDs. After some compromise, they went with comedy first. Steve inserted the DVD and they began to watch.
They were in the middle of laughing when a loud bang was heard from the kitchen. They laughter ceased immediately and the sound of running water could be heard. Judy was first off the lounge and rushed to see what the noise was. Judy felt herself go pale at the sight of water flowing from underneath her dishwasher and onto the floor. The flow resembled a river and she knew that the situation was a plumbing emergency. “Steve, switch off the main water!” Judy yelled.
Judy called out for the kids to find her the Hunters Hill phone directory for an emergency plumber. It was quite late, so Judy hoped that someone would be willing to help them out. She called the number and silently prayed for someone to answer. She was slightly taken back when she heard a voice, almost instantly. Judy went through her plumbing emergency and was relieved to hear that an emergency plumber would be on their way.
As they waited, they set to work mopping the floor and drying anything that was in the direct flow of water. What a catastrophe! Judy thought glumly.
Fifteen minutes later they hear a tapping at their door. “That was fast!” Steve whispered to Judy. They let the plumber in and showed him to the dishwasher. The plumber analysed and investigated the area and found that a pipe had burst. He described exactly what needed to be done about it and the Smith family were more than happy with his findings. It didn’t take long for the pipe to be repaired, causing them to be highly impressed.
Next time they experienced a plumbing emergency, Judy knew that there would be no need to panic. She now had a reliable plumber that she could count on, who could be there, at a moment’s notice.
Thanks to the efforts of the plumber, Judy slept soundly that night, knowing her dishwasher would be fully operational the following morning.
